Who Doesn't Like a Good Underdog Story?

With age and a great therapist, I have become more self-aware. The way that I move in this world makes sense. It is purposeful and deliberate. I create villages because I was raised by one. I am a giver because I was given to. I love because I was loved. There have also been moments that I felt alone in the village, disappointed when stolen from, betrayed by love and overwhelmed when inhumanity showed up uninvited with threats of a prolonged stay. 

Each time adversity gut punched me, I caught my breath, lifted my head to defiantly look it in the eye, and made the difficult, uncomfortable, necessary decision to respond with resilience. The Genetically Resilient Gala is an event I created to honor humans who made that same choice. The Genetically Resilient Gala is a night that impacts and inspires.

I’m asking those who love love, those who enjoy real life underdog stories, those who have fallen down and need encouragement to get back up - I am asking the village to show up and celebrate the awesome humans who bounced back from adversity. I want the honorees to look in the audience and feel the love because you made the intentional choice to be there for them. When you're done reading this, buy a ticket. Mark your calendar.
